Mike Phelan Coaching and PEAK4 hold education close to their hearts in all the work they deliver across communities, schools and in the grassroots sectors. In modern professional sport there is a team behind the team and this means vast and professional scale opportunities in sport for all.

11 Rugby players, 11 Football Players, 1 Olympic Athlete, 1 Cyclist, whatever and whoever you may see in that performance are shadowed by an army of specialists throughout their development years and in their professional competing years.

Psychology, data analytics, biomechanical analyses, strength and conditioning, medical services, nutrition, technological support and much more are all in play 24/7 in the quest for gold and these very people are coming out of modern-day school, college and university environments.

Our team recently visited Burnley College and gave their 100 plus sports cohorts an insight into what it takes.

"Competing for your school or college in conjunction with solid and performance contextual study is a real advantage you guys have" stated former head of R and D at Manchester United Football Club David Horrocks. "Everyone of you can realise and live out your dreams with some sacrifice and commitment, I was once sat in those very chairs you boys and girls now occupy, dream big, anything is possible'

The team spent a full afternoon on site, and the classroom lecture / Q and A was followed by a coaching session for both Boys and Girls out on the newly laid 4G facility, part of the Burnley College commitment to sporting excellence and best in class provision.

The day continued with an energetic coaching session led by former Manchester United first‑team coach Mike Phelan, who guided students through drills inspired by the training habits of legends such as Ronaldo, Beckham, and Rooney.

Led by former Manchester United first‑team coach Mike Phelan, who put around 20 students through their paces in a lively and energetic session with many examples and reference points made to players such as Ronaldo, Beckham and Rooney who Mike was fortunate enough to coach and mentor for long periods throughout his time at the top of English and European football.

Head of Sport Bradley Pates commented " What a super afternoon for everyone involved and I'd say that applies to staff as well as the students, to have people of this calibre on site and to see the students engaged for such a long period and to interact, learn grow and develop is what we are all about at Burnley College. There are vast opportunities out there and its our duty to train and educate but also to bring real world examples to the table so our students can envisage what their futures may look like, a top class day and an energiser and hopefully a catalyst for all"

If your business is interested in having the MP Coaching and PEAK4 team on site then please don't hesitate to get in touch. Education and the future is of paramount importance for all of us and we are here and keen to be a part of that.

Creating shooting opportunities within the confined space of the 18-yard box and closer to goal is increasingly difficult in modern football. Defenders are getting smarter, team set ups and out of possession tactics are more, astute, and defensive units are more cohesive than ever in their quest for clean sheets.
